In 2019, we split from our parent company and moved into a new warehouse just before the pandemic hit, which forced us to rethink our future. This time allowed our CEO to reevaluate the business from the ground up, placing sustainability and social value at the heart of our transformation. We reviewed all procedures, rebranded, and realigned our focus to build a resilient, purpose-driven company. Today, SLX is committed to operating responsibly, making a positive impact on both the industry and the wider community.
Driving Change in our Industry
Our industry has long faced criticism for its environmental impact, from plastic waste to the carbon footprint of global travel. But change is happening, and at SLX, we are proud to be part of that shift. Our journey began by assessing our spheres of influence: the elements we can control within our operations, our impact on the local communities where we work, and the broader influence we can have within the industry. By focusing on these areas, we’re driving meaningful progress toward a more sustainable future.

Why are we a B Corp?
We began our B Corp journey in 2021, driven by a desire to align with a framework that balances people, planet, and profit equally. This commitment led to the implementation of new strategies, policies, and the publication of our annual impact report, marking the start of meaningful collaborations. As a result, SLX now holds the highest B Corp score in our industry, and we are determined to raise the bar even higher when we recertify in 2026.

Our Impact Report outlines our journey and spotlights the array of environmental and social initiatives we've embarked on this year; ranging from carbon footprint measurement to our impactful partnership with Wilderkind.
We have worked with SLX since the dawn of Bake Off and every year we try to reduce our environmental impact. In 2021, SLX helped us to do this by providing generators run on HVO fuel and hybrid battery which saved us 555 tCO2e, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of producing The Great British Bake Off.
