Illuminating historic venues for winter walks

English Heritage

The beauty of Audley End House and Eltham Palace cannot be overlooked. This was especially true during our collaboration with English Heritage, who entrusted us with the task of illuminating the grounds to inspire and delight the public during 14 nights of beautiful winter evening walks.

The Brief

We worked with English Heritage to provide varied lighting solutions for a fortnight of winter walks held at multiple historic venues across the country. We needed to enhance and transform the already picturesque grounds into a tasteful, festive journey of lights so that people of all ages could enjoy the grounds in a way they would have never seen them before.

Our Approach

We knew our work with English Heritage would have to showcase both the beauty of the grounds and buildings and transform the locations into new and awe-inspiring environments. We laced thousands of lights through the trees and crafted archways to evoke a dreamy, otherworldly atmosphere; paths were lined with flickering candles to guide the public through their walk. By lighting the trees and gardens in a wash of blues, purples, and pinks, the magic of the festive season and the majesty of the locations were brought together in beautiful harmony.

The Results

A total of 25,000 visitors attended each venue, immersing themselves in the stunning architecture and the imaginative illuminations and installations that brought history to life. We are proud to continue enhancing these iconic locations with beautiful lighting for their popular winter walks events. Each year, we look forward to reimagining and transforming these spaces in innovative and captivating ways, creating unforgettable experiences for all who attend.
